This newly renovated 56 bed ward required a large set of 32 Wellbeing Windows photographic artworks. These were positioned throughout the ward’s internal corridors, bed bay entrances and around the relatives' waiting room.
The ward staff required us to help patients visually navigate their way back to their own bay, with a series of different animal or plant based images acting as visual signposts.
The relatives' waiting room within the ward was a typical, windowless environment. Here we installed a series of relaxing and calming images. The staff felt this would help relatives stay positive throughout their visit.
The ward’s internal corridors also required numerous engaging and uplifting images that would help patients stay connected to their lives and the world outside. In turn, the ward staff also had a positive effect from the new imagery as they often spend a large part of their 12-hour shifts in a windowless environment.

"What a wonderful addition they have been to the bare walls of the ward. They have generated lots of conversation. I have had many compliments from patients and their relatives about the photos and which ones they have particularly enjoyed."
These range across hospital wards, care homes, children's mental health centres, health and wellbeing hubs and GP practices. See the benefits and learn more about the tranformative effects of our services.
This older, more compact, 32 bed ward needed help. It also featured four individual side rooms, multiple corridor work stations, a windowless relatives waiting room and two internal, windowless offices for the Ward Sister and doctors.
The Violet Melchett Health and Wellbeing Hub opened a new site within the Earl's Court Health and Wellbeing Centre in late 2022 to work alongside an existing NHS GP and dental practice.
Wellbeing Windows can put together image sets to any relevant theme, from local area landmarks through to nature or activity based imagery.
